Neurological Rehabilitation and Other Conditions

At Memorial Rehabilitation Institute at Memorial Regional Hospital South, our multidisciplinary team of physicians, therapists, nurses and staff treats a wide variety of neurological conditions including but not limited to Gulliain-Barré, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.

We take a team approach to patient care, working closely with our patients and families to design a plan of care that is both personalized and progressive, utilizing the latest in treatments and technologies to help meet the patient’s needs.

Depending on your individual neurological rehabilitation needs, you may receive exercise therapy to help recondition and strengthen muscles to support increased mobility and flexibility so you can lead a more active, independent lifestyle. In addition, we offer an innovative way to practice life skills. Your plan of care will be tailored to your individual needs and may include:

  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Recreational therapy
  • Neuropsychology
  • Dietary
  • Pharmacy
  • Animal-assisted therapy

Our Determination Drive a realistic, simulated community environment, includes a fully functioning apartment, a car, library and grocery store to allow you the opportunity to practice everyday challenges prior to returning home.

At Memorial Rehabilitation Institute, we recognize that families and their caregivers are important members of the neurological rehabilitation team. We offer a patient- and family-centered care approach that allows 24-hour visitation with bedside accommodations for overnight stays if desired. We also encourage families to attend weekly conferences with their loved one to discuss progress and plans for discharge directly with their personalized team of caregivers. We encourage family participation in your therapy sessions and also provide an evaluation of your home by our therapy team if needed prior to discharge.

By combining some of the latest in advanced technology with highly trained staff within a beautiful, therapeutic environment, we are able to support neurological rehabilitation patients in their efforts to regain function and independence.

We have many resources for neurologically involved patients and their families to help further support you and your recovery.
